The year 2003 was a very
special year, it was the year that our wonderful grandson, Phoenix was born.
Now, the year I married my husband, the years my own children were born,
those were very special years as well but nothing quiet describes the feeling
of holding the baby of your baby for the first time. As it turns out,
it's a good thing I found it so special and enjoyed him so much because he's
the only grandchild I have! But that particular day, I had no idea he
would be my only one. For four years we lived close enough that we really
got to have him pretty much whenever we wanted him and we took advantage of
that as much as possible. We spent many weekends playing with our grand
baby! In the summer of 2007 we moved from Oklahoma City to Broken Arrow
and my daughter and her family moved to Austin, TX. Now they live in
Georgia! My husband and I used to watch a show called 'Thirty Something'
and in one of the shows the in-laws come to visit and everything is hectic and
the kids are all excited to see the grandparents and the 30 something parents
are biting their tongues trying not to argue with the parents changing all
their traditions, spoiling the kids, just all the changes and finally the
holiday is over and everyone is hugging and kissing goodbye and the 30
something couple smile at each other and say, "thank God they live 1000
miles away!" I swore I was never going to be one of 'those' kind of
parents! I didn't want my daughter or son to dread my visits and be thrilled
when I left and I pray that they don't. Anyway, Rachel brings Phoenix to
visit us for a couple of weeks every summer and then Gary & I and Rob, our
son, go to Georgia to spend a week with them at Christmas. Here are some
of the pictures from our visit in 2015.
